Jennifer Dolan, 2018
Jen Dolan is an artist who enjoys working with a variety of media and one basic philosophy: art should be functional. For Jen, the functionality of art can mean encouraging creativity from others (creating coloring book pages and collaborative pieces), filling a day to day need (weaving baskets, hats, and rugs), or creating subversive pieces in the spirit of awakening a greater social awareness. Jen wove items used on the farm and at farmers’ markets using scrap materials as well as locally produced fibers. Jen routinely creates art for use by Central Rivers Farmshed, including chalk art for their annual plant sale.
“The interwoven fabric of farmer and consumer: Functional art pieces (baskets, hats, possibly rugs) woven of scrap materials”
